Paid Sick Leave Mandate Compliance Training

the Health Workplaces Act (HWA) becomes effective on July 1, 2022. The Act requires private employers in New Mexico with at least one employee to provide paid sick leave to employees. 

Join MCA / SMACNA of New Mexico and AGC New Mexico for a joint Paid Sick Leave Compliance Training on Wednesday, May 25 from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. The training will be led by Lorna M. Wiggins, who is a shareholder in Wiggins, Williams & Wiggins, P.C. 

Lorna M. Wiggins

Ms. Wiggins has practiced primarily in the areas of labor and employment law since 1983, when she started practicing law in New Mexico after completing a judicial clerkship for the North Dakota Supreme Court. 

Much of Ms. Wiggins’ practice includes advising management on various personnel issues, including hiring, discipline, termination and layoff issues, negotiating employment contracts, non-compete agreements and patent waiver agreements, and assisting management in developing and implementing personnel policies.

Ms. Wiggins has extensive experience in representing local, regional and national employers before various state human rights commissions, the Equal Employment Opportunity Office, the National Labor Relations Board as well as state unemployment compensation commissions and workers’ compensation agencies.  Ms. Wiggins has litigated all types of civil rights claims and claims for sex, race, national origin, sexual orientation and religious discrimination as well as claims for age discrimination and physical and mental disabilities.

She routinely provides training to employers in recognizing and eliminating discrimination and harassment in the workplace.  She is a frequent lecturer in labor and employment law.
